Money Heist spinoff Berlin release date, cast, plot, teaser, and more

One of Netflix’s biggest shows, Money Heist, is getting a prequel! Money Heist: Berlin will dive further into the character of Berlin (Andrés de Fonollosa), a fan-favorite from the original show. Pedro Alonso will reprise the role of Berlin in the new show.

The new series is going to take viewers on “a trip throughout the golden years of the character. When he was stealing all over Europe, madly in love,” according to Alex Pina, the creator of Money Heist, at the Netflix 2022 Tudum event. The series will be full of all the things fans loved about the original series and much more!

Here’s what you need to know about the new show, per the official synopsis shared by Netflix:

"There are only two things that are sure to turn a bad day into a great one: love, and a payday worth millions. They’re what keep Berlin going through his golden years, a time when he still has no inkling of his illness and hasn’t gotten trapped like a rat in the Spanish Mint. This is where he starts preparing one of his most extraordinary heists: making jewels worth 44 million disappear like some sort of magic trick. To do it, he’ll enlist the help of one of the three gangs he’s ever stolen with."

On September 18, Netflix released an official date announcement teaser. We can now confirm that Money Heist: Berlin will launch on Friday, December 29, 2023.

It has already been confirmed that Pedro Alonso (a.k.a. Berlin) will be returning for the Money Heist prequel series. Netflix also released a character introduction video (which you can see below) ahead of the release.
